X Platform Back Online After Widespread Global Outage Affects Thousands

Social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, was largely restored on Monday after thousands of users worldwide reported access issues, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

The disruption began around 9:00 am Eastern Time, with Downdetector recording a peak of over 25,000 problem reports from users in the United States. By later in the day, the number of reports had dropped to approximately 620.

In Canada, reports declined to around 30 from a high of more than 3,400, while the United Kingdom saw issues fall after exceeding 9,000 reports earlier in the day, the website said.

Downdetector collates status reports from a variety of sources, but the actual number of affected users may differ from the figures shown, as reports are voluntarily submitted by users.

X did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters regarding the cause of the outage.
