Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 15, debuts as England beat India in second T20I
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to represent India at 15 years and 99 days during the second T20 International against England in Manchester. His debut, however, ended with a 10-ball 14 as India set England a target of 191, which the hosts chased down with four wickets and an over to spare.
Sooryavanshi's much-anticipated innings included two sixes but also showed the rawness of youth. He missed his first ball, attempting a fierce swing, and was dismissed by Will Jacks. Jacob Bethell anchored England's chase with a steady knock, securing a four-wicket win and giving England a 1-0 lead in the series after the first match was washed out.
India's innings was built around Abhishek Sharma's 43 off 24 balls and Ishan Kishan's 49. Captain Shreyas Iyer contributed a quick 37. For England, Sam Curran took two wickets, while Liam Dawson and Will Jacks also struck. Arshdeep Singh claimed two early wickets for India, dismissing both openers for ducks, but Harry Brook's counterattack and Bethell's composure turned the tide.
The match highlighted Sooryavanshi's potential despite a modest debut, as the teenager displayed glimpses of his talent amid the pressures of international cricket.
