Uttarakhand CM Dhami to launch Yuva Bhavishya Yojana: free online coaching for competitive exams
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will launch the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana' on Monday, a programme designed to help young people prepare for competitive examinations. The initiative, announced by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), aims to make quality coaching accessible to students across the state, regardless of their financial background or location.
Under the scheme, students enrolled in universities, government colleges and aided colleges in Uttarakhand will receive free online coaching and study material. The CMO said the programme covers a wide range of competitive examinations, including the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), state public service commission examinations, the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination, banking recruitment tests, railways recruitment exams and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams.
The scheme also extends to students aspiring for higher education and academic career opportunities. It will offer guidance for admission and eligibility tests such as CAT, MAT, GATE, NET and CSIR-NET. Officials noted that this broad coverage is intended to assist students at different stages of their education and professional development.
One of the primary objectives of the scheme, according to the CMO, is to help students from remote and hilly regions of Uttarakhand. These areas often lack well-established coaching centres, and students generally have to travel to major cities for competitive exam preparation. The CMO said that with access to expert guidance from home, students will no longer need to travel in search of quality coaching. The online format is expected to reduce the financial and logistical burden on families.
The state government said that the scheme is a step towards ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder talented youth from realising their career goals. It is also expected to complement the government's existing efforts to improve employment outcomes for young people in the state.
While the CMO has not yet announced the exact number of beneficiaries or the duration of the programme, it said that all eligible students will be able to participate without any fee. More details regarding the application process are likely to be released at the launch event on Monday.
In a separate administrative action on Friday, Chief Minister Dhami transferred the August pension instalment under various social security pension schemes of the Social Welfare Department through a one-click payment mechanism. The transfer, made from the Chief Minister's Camp Office, resulted in the disbursal of Rs 147.05 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9,91,914 beneficiaries. The state government also sanctioned pensions for 5,605 new beneficiaries during August.
The Chief Minister said that ensuring social security for the weaker, needy and deprived sections of society remains a priority for his government. He reiterated the government's commitment to making sure every eligible person receives the benefits of social security schemes in a simple and timely manner. He also directed officials to handle any practical difficulties that arise during the implementation of pension schemes with sensitivity.
Together, the launch of the Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana and the pension disbursal reflect the state government's focus on supporting both the career aspirations of the younger generation and the welfare of vulnerable sections of society. The upcoming launch will provide further clarity on how students can benefit from the new scheme.
