US Strikes Cripple Iranian Airport, Bridges, Railway Near Strait of Hormuz
Tehran, Iran – Late Thursday night, the United States launched a series of airstrikes targeting infrastructure in southern Iran, according to Iranian state media. The attacks hit Iranshahr airport, the Bandar Abbas railway junction, and two bridges in Hormozgan province, near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state television IRIB reported that three explosions were heard around Iranshahr airport, with at least one American projectile striking the facility. In Bandar Abbas, the Mehr news agency said the railway junction was targeted, injuring two Iranians. Official reports from the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) confirmed airstrikes on two bridges in Hormozgan, resulting in two deaths and four injuries.
The strikes come amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, with the Strait of Hormuz—a key chokepoint for global oil shipments—remaining a flashpoint. No independent verification of the Iranian claims was immediately available, and the US military has not officially commented on the operation.
The attacks mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, raising concerns about regional stability and potential disruptions to global energy supplies. Iran has vowed to respond, though specifics have not been disclosed.
