US Bans Chinese Humanoid Robots in Latest Tech War Escalation

The ongoing technology conflict between the United States and China has expanded to include humanoid robots. The Trump administration has imposed a ban on imports of certain Chinese robots and power inverters, citing risks to American national security.

The ban specifically targets Chinese-made humanoid and quadruped robots, as well as power inverters used to connect renewable energy sources and batteries to power grids and data centers. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also placed restrictions on these inverters.

This move is part of broader US efforts to protect its artificial intelligence infrastructure from perceived threats. The ban follows previous actions in the tech war, including restrictions on telecommunications equipment and semiconductor exports.

Chinese officials have not yet responded to the latest measure. Experts say the ban could disrupt supply chains for US data centers and renewable energy projects, while also affecting Chinese robot manufacturers.
