Two Congress leaders from Prakasam district join YSRCP

Two senior Congress leaders from Prakasam district joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Wednesday at the party's central office in Tadepalli. Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was present during the joining.

The leaders who switched allegiance were Ongole city Congress committee president T. Nagalakshmi and senior Congress SC Cell leader D. Satish Babu. Mr. Jagan welcomed them into the party and expressed confidence that they would work effectively to strengthen the YSRCP in the future.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nagalakshmi and Mr. Satish Babu said they were drawn to the YSRCP by Mr. Jagan's leadership, ideology, objectives, and commitment to public service. The leaders claimed that they were pleased to join a party that consistently fights for the welfare of the people, and pledged to work with dedication to strengthen the organisation.

Ms. Nagalakshmi had contested the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections as the Congress candidate from Ongole Assembly constituency.

The YSRCP, founded by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is a regional political party in Andhra Pradesh. The party has been in power in the state from 2019 to 2024.
