Trainer aircraft crashes near Baramati airstrip in Maharashtra; no injuries reported
A trainer aircraft operated by a private flying school crashed near the Baramati airstrip in Maharashtra's Pune district on Sunday afternoon, police said. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The aircraft came down at approximately 12:30 p.m. near the airstrip, which is used for both civil and training operations. Emergency response teams reached the spot shortly after the crash, but no fire or major debris was reported.
A senior police official confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation has been initiated to determine the cause. "The incident took place near the airstrip. We are investigating whether the aircraft developed a technical snag or if there were any other technical problems. It is too early to comment on anything," the official said.
The aircraft was being used for training purposes by a private company, which is a common practice at the Baramati facility. The identity of the pilot and any other occupants has not been officially released, though preliminary reports indicate that all on board are safe.
Local authorities have cordoned off the area to facilitate the investigation.
