Thousands Join Peaceful March in Pune in Support of CJP Amid Exam Paper Leak Allegations
Despite heavy rain, thousands of citizens from across Pune marched from Shaniwar Wada and Lal Mahal to the Collector's office on Saturday, voicing support for the political party known as CJP. The protest, which drew students, lawyers, doctors, filmmakers, and professionals from various fields, was marked by its complete peace and organisation.
Organisers said the turnout exceeded expectations, with participants walking calmly without sloganeering that crossed the line or causing any disruption to public order. The march remained disciplined throughout, reflecting the concerns of citizens about recent allegations of a paper leak in educational examinations.
“I am an educationist because I teach in multiple institutes, including a medical college. Such a paper leak is shameful,” said Dr Sonali Talavlikar, a protester and medical professional. Her sentiment echoed among many attendees who demanded accountability and transparency in the examination system.
The protest comes amid ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in competitive exams in the state. While the police have filed cases against unknown persons, protesters urged the government to ensure strict action and reforms to prevent future incidents.
Supporters of CJP, whose full name is not officially disclosed, said the party has been vocal on issues of education and corruption. “We are here for the future of our students. It is not about politics but about justice,” said another participant, a lawyer who wished to remain anonymous.
The march concluded peacefully at the Collector's office, where a memorandum was submitted to local authorities. No untoward incidents were reported.
