Mumbai: A video showing a Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) corporator, Ramesh Mhatre, assaulting doctors and medical staff at a Thane municipal hospital has gone viral, leading to his arrest on Wednesday. The altercation reportedly occurred over the treatment of a patient on Monday. The party has admonished Mhatre for his conduct.
The incident has drawn attention to the conduct of elected representatives in public institutions. Residents often approach municipal corporators for help with civic issues, and their effectiveness depends on responding with empathy and demanding accountability.
