Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Unveils Plan to Prepare Youth for Global Jobs with Foreign Language Training
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced a series of reforms aimed at equipping young people in the state for international employment opportunities. Addressing students of the Young India Integrated Residential Schools, Young India Skills University, and Young India Sports University, Reddy outlined initiatives including foreign language classes, skill development programmes, and the conversion of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs).
Reddy stated that learning German and Japanese alongside English would improve employability in global markets. He emphasised that the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) could potentially displace millions of workers, making skill development critical for future employment. The reforms are part of the state government's strategy to prepare youth for the challenges posed by AI and to tap into global job markets.
The Chief Minister did not provide a specific timeline or budget for the initiatives but said the government is actively pursuing these changes. The announcement comes amid growing concerns about automation and its impact on jobs, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing and information technology.
Critics have questioned the feasibility of implementing such programmes at scale, given resource constraints. However, government officials said the focus would be on partnerships with industry and educational institutions to ensure the curriculum aligns with market demands.
