Teen Shooter Damayanti Sen Reunited with Family After 48-Hour Search
HOWRAH: A 15-year-old state-level shooter, Damayanti Sen, who had been missing for two days, was reunited with her family on Saturday, bringing an end to 48 hours of anxiety for her family and the local community.
Damayanti, a resident of Howrah in West Bengal, was traced to the Ramakrishna Ghat area along the Hooghly river and brought back home safely. However, neither the family nor the police have provided a clear account of her whereabouts during the period she was missing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Howrah Central), Tauseef Ali Azahar, confirmed the reunion. “We are very happy that she has been reunited with her family. There are some issues regarding her sports and studies with her family. We are investigating. We cannot say more regarding the investigation. She is fine now and with her parents. She will be produced in court,” Azahar said.
The teenager, known for her skills in shooting, had last been seen on Thursday. Her family had filed a missing complaint, prompting a search by local police. The circumstances leading to her disappearance remain under investigation, with authorities focusing on family dynamics related to her sporting and academic pressures.
Damayanti’s safe return has brought relief to her family and the shooting community. Police have advised the family to provide necessary support to the teenager. The minor is expected to be produced before a magistrate as per legal protocols.
