Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Launches 'Nalam TN' Portal for Transparent Health Funding
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday launched the Tamil Nadu Health Foundation's online portal 'Nalam TN' in Chennai. The portal aims to facilitate transparent and accountable contributions from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, organisations, alumni, and individual donors for upgrading infrastructure and procuring medical equipment in government hospitals across the state.
During the event at Presidency College campus, Mr Vijay also inaugurated buildings and modern medical equipment worth ₹139.47 crore in various hospitals. He handed over appointment orders to 751 Assistant Medical Officers and 1,393 Health Inspectors (Grade II) selected by the Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB).
According to an official release, donations were received from several companies. C.C. Parthiban and Vivek Parthiban of Caplin Point Laboratories Ltd. contributed ₹1 crore; Krishnan Akhileswaran and V. Naveen of Apollo Hospitals donated ₹1 crore; and R. Prabhu and Hariharan of Titan Engineering and Automation Ltd. gave ₹60 lakh from their CSR funds. Additionally, S. Sathya, a Chennai resident who gave birth at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Government Hospital for Women and Children in Egmore two years ago, donated ₹1,000.
Mr Vijay also inaugurated health infrastructure and equipment at Kilpauk Government Medical College Hospital, Government Headquarters Hospital at Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, additional buildings at Avudaiyarkoil, Nilakottai, Batlagundu, Pattiveeranpatti, Kariapatti, and 78 newly-constructed Primary Health Centres and Health Sub-Centres across various districts through video-conferencing.
Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare K.G. Arunraj, Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, and Health and Family Welfare Secretary Darez Ahamed were among the participants.
