Suneil Anand, actor and son of legendary Dev Anand, dies at 70 in London
Suneil Anand, an actor and the son of iconic Indian actor-filmmaker Dev Anand, passed away due to a heart attack in London on July 26. He was 70 years old.
The news was confirmed by his niece, Gina Narang, who released a statement on behalf of the family. “With heavy hearts, our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand. We are comforted by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, for which we are truly grateful. We kindly request privacy as we navigate this difficult time together,” she said.
Suneil Anand began his career in the film industry by assisting his father on several directorial ventures during the late 1970s and early 1980s. He made his acting debut in the 1984 film Anand Aur Anand, which was directed by Dev Anand. He later appeared in Car Thief (1986) directed by Sameer Malkan and Main Tere Liye (1989) directed by Vijay Anand. However, none of his films achieved commercial success at the box office.
Despite his brief film career, Suneil Anand remained a private figure and kept away from the limelight in his later years. His death marks the end of an era for the Anand family, which has been a prominent name in Indian cinema for decades.
Dev Anand, Suneil’s father, was a legendary figure in Hindi cinema, known for his work as an actor, director, and producer. He passed away in 2011. Suneil is survived by his extended family, including his sister, Devina, and other relatives.
