Six Abducted Labourers Found Dead in Pakistan's Balochistan
The bullet-riddled bodies of six labourers, who had been abducted two days earlier from Balochistan, were found on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the province's Home Minister confirmed.
Four of the labourers belonged to Pakistan's Punjab province, and two to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to Balochistan Home Minister Babar Yousufzai. Their bodies were discovered near Nasirabad in Turbat town, Kech district.
“Unidentified armed men abducted seven labourers who were working in Kech district. One of them was shot on the spot,” the Minister said. The abduction occurred on Tuesday, July 28, when armed men blocked the Turbat-Mand road in the Kalatak area and took the labourers from a vehicle, as reported by Dawn newspaper.
No insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the abduction. Abductions of workers from outside Balochistan are frequent in the restive province. In recent years, many workers and labourers have been killed at their worksites, in their homes, or after being abducted.
A few days prior, two workers of a courier company were abducted from a highway in Mastu. Their whereabouts remain unknown, officials said.
The killings highlight ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where labourers from other provinces are often targeted. Authorities have launched a search for the perpetrators.
