SIT Uncovers Police Plot to Fudge Evidence in Custodial Death Case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna (25) has uncovered a conspiracy by police personnel to manipulate evidence. Head constable P. Ashok allegedly sent a gym trainer to Goa with the deceased's mobile phone to create a false trail suggesting Sai Krishna had escaped from custody and travelled there.

The SIT, led by Inspector General of Police (IGP) M. Ravi Prakash, analysed call data records of the accused — Circle Inspector (CI) S.S.V.V. Nagaraju and four constables. The team identified suspicious calls and messages exchanged among the accused between May 5 and the end of the month, including late-night communications and use of social media groups.

Investigators discovered that constable Ashok had instructed his gym trainer, Sushanth, to take Sai Krishna's phone to Goa. The trainer complied and stayed at a hotel there, likely to make it appear that the deceased had fled. SIT officials have gathered details of Sushanth's trip, including his hotel stay and any calls made from the victim's phone.

The gym trainer has reportedly confessed that he received the phone from the constable and carried it to Goa. The SIT has also questioned friends of the accused officers and recorded statements to piece together the alleged conspiracy.
