Security Tightened in Delhi: 10 CRPF Companies Deployed as Student Protests Continue

The Centre has directed the airlifting of 10 additional CRPF companies from Chhattisgarh to Delhi to strengthen security measures in response to ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar, officials confirmed on Friday.

The CRPF headquarters has also postponed a training session for the Rapid Action Force (RAF) scheduled from July 27 to August 8 in Meerut, due to the protests. The RAF personnel were due to undergo training during that period.

According to officials, a security review meeting held in Delhi on Thursday required all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) units scheduled to be stationed in the capital ahead of Independence Day to report early. This measure aims to ensure adequate security arrangements.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has also issued orders sanctioning only emergency leaves for its Delhi Metro unit, as maximum manpower is required at stations due to the security situation in the capital.

The student protest at Jantar Mantar, a traditional site for demonstrations, has prompted these precautionary steps. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to maintain public order and safety.
