Samay Raina Praises Alia Bhatt, Sharvari for Being 'Chill, Fun' on India's Got Latent Season 2

Stand-up comedian Samay Raina took to his Instagram Stories on Sunday night to express appreciation for actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, who appeared as guest panelists on the premiere episode of India's Got Latent season 2. The show, a roast format, returned after a year following a major controversy and is now streaming on both Samay's YouTube channel and Netflix India.

“Soooo much love for @aliabhatt and @sharvari for being so chill and fun,” wrote Samay. “Takes a lots of guts for someone at such heights of the game. Humbled by your humility and learnt so much from you. I was always a fan of your work but now even bigger fan of the people you are,” he added.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, who are set to co-star in Shiv Rawail's spy thriller Alpha (releasing in cinemas on July 3), appeared on the show as part of promotions. When Samay asked Alia to discuss the film, she said, “We’re not here to promote Alpha.” Samay responded, “Then remove that cap,” referring to the Alpha-themed cap she wore throughout the episode.

The episode featured light-hearted roasting from Samay, including jibes at their films and public appearances. When Alia joked about regretting her appearance, Samay quipped, “I also regretted watching Jigra,” which Alia took in good humor. He also referenced her recent experience at the Cannes Film Festival, where cameras did not focus on her on the red carpet, saying, “The camera is focusing on you here.”

Samay introduced Sharvari as “Alia Bhatt’s +1” and made jokes about her acting skills and relative popularity. In return, Alia hinted that Kapil Sharma is a superior comedian, and Sharvari reminded Samay that season 1 of India’s Got Latent was taken down by Mumbai Police after a controversy last year.

Samay also teased Alia about delays in Alpha's release, noting she finds time for other activities like visiting Cannes and watching The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Samay had previously appeared on a special episode of that show with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, whose inappropriate joke as a panelist on India’s Got Latent led to three FIRs.

Earlier this year, Samay announced the return of India’s Got Latent for season 2 during his stand-up special Still Alive. Netflix confirmed this week that the show will stream on the platform this season, but Samay assured fans it will remain on his YouTube channel, stating he hasn't “completely sold out yet.”

Tamil producers seek revenue-sharing pay model, inspired by Allu Arjun and Ranveer Singh

Tamil film producers are advocating a revenue-sharing model where actors and technicians receive a share of a film's total earnings instead of fixed salaries. The model, already adopted by stars like Allu Arjun and Ranveer Singh, allocates up to 60% of revenue to talent, leaving producers to recoup costs from the remainder. Proponents argue it aligns incentives, rewarding success while mitigating losses.
