RSS Calls for Transparency in Ram Temple Donation Handling After Theft Incident

New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Friday issued a statement addressing the recent theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The temple, a major religious site for Hindus, has been under scrutiny after an incident involving the theft of offerings from donation boxes.

Dattatreya Hosabale, the RSS Sarkaryavah, expressed that the incident has deeply hurt devotees. He called for a thorough investigation and severe punishment for those found guilty. The RSS also urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which manages the temple, to address any shortcomings in management and operations.

The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter, following a request from the temple Trust. Several arrests have been made, and questions have been raised about cash-handling, accounting, and security protocols at the temple.

Hosabale emphasized the need for proper financial management and transparent operational systems to maintain the faith of millions of Ram devotees. He also appealed to Hindu society to exercise patience and restraint, cautioning against elements that might exploit the controversy to harm the reputation of Hindu dharma and society.

The Ram Temple, built after a decades-long legal and political movement and a Supreme Court verdict in 2019, holds significant emotional and religious importance for many Hindus. The theft incident has sparked political debate, with opposition parties questioning the accountability and transparency of the temple Trust.

The RSS statement comes amid growing public and political scrutiny over the handling of donations at the temple. The organization, which played a key role in the temple movement, is now urging the Trust to rectify any operational flaws to ensure that the faith of devotees remains unshaken.

The SIT investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe continues.
