Rahul Gandhi Demands Education Minister's Resignation Over NEET Paper Leak

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following the NEET-UG paper leak. In a post on social media platform X, Gandhi said his party will not rest until a foolproof system is in place to prevent such leaks.

Gandhi shared a video of students protesting in Hyderabad, where demonstrators called for Mr. Pradhan's resignation and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the education minister. The NEET-UG exam, which determines admissions to medical colleges, was recently cancelled after reports of a paper leak surfaced.

“When millions of youth are on the streets, the future of 22 lakh children is at stake and the PM remains silent, then the government is not focused on responding but is busy evading,” Gandhi wrote in Hindi. He added, “Until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns and a foolproof system is established to prevent paper leaks like NEET, we will not stop.”

The Congress party has been consistently demanding that Mr. Pradhan step down or be removed from his post. The opposition has also called for disbanding the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam. As of this report, the government has not officially responded to Gandhi's latest remarks.

The paper leak, which forced the cancellation of the exam, has sparked widespread protests from students and opposition parties, raising questions about the security of high-stakes competitive examinations in the country.
