Pulse Polio Drive Covers Over 1.99 Lakh Children in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

More than 1.99 lakh children under five years of age received polio drops in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Sunday as part of the Pulse Polio Programme.

In Dakshina Kannada, 1.36 lakh children were administered the drops at 756 booths between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mangaluru taluk recorded the highest number at 61,738, followed by Bantwal (28,427), Puttur (19,725), Belthangady (18,080), and Sullia (8,747). The district achieved 97.2% coverage against a target of 1.40 lakh children, according to an official press release.

The vaccination drive was launched by MLC Ivan D’Souza, who administered polio drops to children at the Government Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru on Sunday morning.

In Udupi district, 62,835 children received the drops. Udupi block reported 31,965 children, Kundapura block 20,612, and Karkala block 10,258. The district achieved 96.1% coverage against its target of 65,385 children, as per the official release.

The Udupi drive was launched by MLA Yashpal Suvarna at the Government Mother and Child Hospital in Udupi.
