PM Modi Urges States to Fast-Track e-Zero FIRs for Cyber Crime Victims
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon state governments to expedite the implementation of electronic Zero FIRs (e-Zero FIRs) for victims of cyber crimes. The move aims to prevent repeated harassment and financial losses by allowing victims to file complaints at any police station, which can then be transferred electronically to the jurisdiction where the crime occurred.
Speaking at a review meeting with state chief secretaries and police officials, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for swift action, improved coordination among law enforcement agencies, and enhanced public awareness to combat the rising tide of digital fraud. He noted that cyber criminals often exploit procedural delays, and the e-Zero FIR mechanism can significantly reduce response time.
Modi also reviewed the progress of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, stressing the importance of sustained efforts to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025. Additionally, he urged efficient planning of infrastructure projects using the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan to ensure timely completion and cost-effectiveness.
The meeting was part of the Prime Minister's ongoing review of key government initiatives, with a focus on leveraging technology to improve governance and public service delivery.
