PM Modi to Be Guest of Honour at Seychelles' Golden Jubilee; Indian Navy to Participate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a state visit to Seychelles from June 27 to 29, 2025, to attend the country's 50th National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the visit on Thursday, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

During his three-day stay, PM Modi will hold talks with Seychelles President Patrick Herminie to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including defence, trade, and cultural exchanges. A contingent of the Indian Armed Forces, along with two Indian Navy ships, will participate in the National Day celebrations, underscoring the defence partnership between the two countries.

The MEA stated, “The visit will reaffirm the strong and enduring friendship between India and Seychelles and reinforce the shared commitment of both countries to enhance the bilateral relationship across all sectors.” In addition to the official engagements, PM Modi will address the National Assembly of Seychelles and interact with the Indian diaspora residing there.

Seychelles, an archipelago nation in the Indian Ocean, has historically maintained close ties with India, rooted in shared democratic values and maritime security interests. India has been a key development partner for Seychelles, providing assistance in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, and capacity building.

The visit is expected to further deepen cooperation in the Indian Ocean region, with both nations committed to maintaining peace and stability. PM Modi's attendance at the Golden Jubilee celebrations also signals India's respect for the sovereignty and democratic traditions of Seychelles.
