Pakistani national who crossed LoC inadvertently returned to Pakistan after 6 days
A Pakistani national who inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district has been repatriated, the Indian Army announced on Friday (June 19, 2026).
Asad Khan, a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was apprehended on June 12 in Simari village, Kupwara, after crossing the LoC. He was handed over to Pakistani authorities on June 18, the Army's Chinar Corps said in a statement on social media.
During his stay in India, Khan was treated with dignity and compassion, reflecting the Indian Army's commitment to humanitarian values, the statement added. The Army described his safe return as an example of its professionalism and adherence to high standards.
The incident follows established protocols for handling inadvertent border crossers. The Line of Control divides the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Such crossings, though rare, are typically resolved through diplomatic and military channels.
