Over 140 Trains to Skip Vadodara Junction as Railway Upgrades Tracks Till July 1
Passengers planning train journeys through Vadodara in the coming days should check their travel plans carefully. From June 23 to July 1, the Western Railway will temporarily close Platforms 5 and 6 at Vadodara Junction for major infrastructure work, forcing more than 140 trains to bypass the main station and halt at nearby stations instead.
Vadodara Junction is one of India's busiest rail hubs, handling over 340 trains every week. It serves as a critical junction on the Mumbai-Delhi and Ahmedabad routes. The closure is required for yard remodelling, installation of new points, and crossovers on the rail lines, according to railway officials, who described the disruption as unavoidable despite careful planning to minimise delays and inconvenience.
Affected trains will be diverted to stop at other stations in the Vadodara area, such as Vishwamitri, Makarpura, and Pratapnagar. Passengers are advised to verify their train's halting station and platform before travelling. Railway authorities have said they will provide assistance and announcements at stations to guide passengers.
The shutdown is part of ongoing efforts to modernise the railway infrastructure and improve safety and efficiency on one of the country's busiest rail corridors. Similar temporary closures have been undertaken in the past at major junctions for maintenance and upgrades.
