Over 100 tribal students hospitalised in Maharashtra after suspected food poisoning
More than 100 tribal students from three residential schools in Maharashtra's Amravati district have been hospitalised following suspected food poisoning, officials confirmed on Monday.
The students began showing symptoms of vomiting after consuming meals provided by a central kitchen that supplies food to the schools. A police complaint has been filed against the operator of the central kitchen, according to Siddarth Shukla, the tribal development project officer for Dharni.
On Saturday, 69 students were admitted to a government hospital in Dharni. The following day, similar symptoms were reported among 70 students at the government residential schools in Bijudhavdi and Savlikheda, both in Dharni tehsil. All affected students were hospitalised.
As of Monday, most children have been discharged. A total of 32 students remain under observation, and their condition is reported to be stable. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
