NTA Calls Fake Video Claiming NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak; Re-Exam Held Successfully

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has dismissed a video circulating on social media that claimed the NEET-UG 2026 question paper was leaked. In a statement on X, the agency described the video as fabricated and the claims as false.

More than 20 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the re-examination on June 21, 2026, after the original test was cancelled due to paper leaks. The NTA said the exam was conducted under comprehensive security and surveillance measures at 5,440 centres in India and 14 abroad, in 13 languages.

The agency warned that manufacturing and circulating such misinformation to defraud or alarm students is a serious offence. It said it is taking action with support from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and law enforcement agencies. NTA appealed to students, parents, and the public to rely only on official sources and not to amplify such material.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh credited a 'whole-of-government' approach for conducting the mammoth exercise in 37 days. Around 7 lakh officials, including police, observers, and examination staff, were mobilised across the country. Multiple sets of question papers were prepared with help from academic experts.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed arrangements at the NTA headquarters. The NTA said that Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication, CCTV surveillance, jammers, and two-layer frisking were deployed. Control centres monitored the process at national, state, and district levels.

Special arrangements were made for over 10,000 Persons with Disabilities, including candidates with medical conditions such as a road accident survivor and a child undergoing chemotherapy. Minor incidents were reported, including forged admit cards and attempted mobile phone use, with appropriate action taken.

NTA reiterated that 20 lakh aspirants deserve a calm and fair process, and urged everyone to trust only verified information from official channels.
