NEET UG Re-exam Held Amidst Heightened Security: Photostat Shops Shut, Students Frisked
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) re-examination was conducted across India on Sunday, with authorities implementing strict security measures to prevent malpractice. In Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, all photostat shops near exam centres were ordered closed, while in Assam, police frisked students before allowing them into examination halls.
The re-test, held from 2 pm to 5:15 pm, was necessitated after the original exam on May 3 was cancelled due to allegations of a question paper leak. The National Testing Agency (NTA) arranged the re-examination for affected candidates.
In Assam, at the Gauhati Commerce College centre, 432 candidates appeared for the test. A contingent of 10 police personnel was deployed. Students were frisked at the campus entrance and again before entering the examination block, which was also equipped with metal detectors.
Candidates who had to take the exam for the second time in a span of one and a half months reported maintaining composure despite the uncertainty. The NTA assured that all necessary steps were taken to ensure a fair examination process.
