NEET UG Counselling Schedule Expected Soon: Registration, Seat Allotment Process Explained

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to release the schedule for NEET UG counselling soon, following the announcement of results on July 16. The counselling process will be conducted online at mcc.nic.in, covering undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied programmes under the All India Quota (AIQ) as well as State quota seats.

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), around 20 lakh candidates appeared for the exam at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Of these, 11.21 lakh candidates qualified, representing a pass percentage of approximately 56%. Over 58% of the qualified candidates are women, and the majority of top performers are aged between 17 and 19 years.

The highest score of 715 out of 720 was jointly achieved by Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana, the NTA announced.

The counselling process will be conducted in four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (Mop-Up Round), and the Stray Vacancy Round. Candidates must register online, pay the counselling fee, and fill in and lock their preferred choices of colleges and courses. Seat allotment will be based on the candidate's NEET rank, category, reservation norms, preferences, and seat availability. Candidates who secure a seat must report to the allotted college for document verification and admission.

The MCC has not yet announced the exact dates, but based on previous years, the first round is expected to begin in late July.
