NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Begins: Over 20 Lakh Students Appear Under Enhanced Security

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the NEET UG 2026 re-examination today, June 21, 2026, for candidates affected by the cancellation of the earlier examination held on May 3. Over 20 lakh students are expected to appear for the retest across the country.

The re-examination is being held from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, with an additional 15 minutes compared to the original schedule. Candidates must report to their allotted centres before 1:30 PM, as gates will close at that time. Late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.

The NTA has implemented enhanced security measures, including biometric authentication, strict frisking, and additional monitoring, to ensure a fair and transparent process. Candidates can download their admit cards from the official website neet.nta.nic.in through the candidate login portal.

Dress Code and Prohibited Items

To facilitate smooth entry, the NTA has prescribed a dress code. Candidates should wear simple, light-coloured clothes with half sleeves and slippers or sandals with low heels. Heavy clothing, full sleeves, shoes, large buttons, and accessories must be avoided. Jewellery such as rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are not allowed. The dress code aims to expedite security checks and maintain fairness.

Documents Required

Candidates must carry the following items to the examination centre:

  • NEET UG 2026 re-exam admit card
  • Valid photo ID proof
  • Passport-size photograph (if specified on the admit card)
  • Transparent water bottle

Prohibited items include electronic devices, study materials, and valuables. The NTA advises students to carefully read all instructions on the admit card and follow the examination guidelines strictly.

The re-examination comes after the earlier NEET UG 2026 exam was cancelled following reports of a paper leak. The NTA has assured that the retest is conducted with heightened vigilance to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
