Andhra CM to launch Sanjeevani pilot project in ASR district on August 22
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to visit Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district on August 22 to launch the Sanjeevani pilot project. The district administration has begun preparations for the visit, with officials holding a review meeting on Tuesday.
District Collector T. Nishanthi presided over the meeting, which was held to assess the readiness of various departments. The attendees included Joint Collector Tirumani Sripooja, ITDA Project Officer Aditya Varma, Additional Superintendent of Police Shruthi, District Revenue Officer M.V.S. Lokeshwara Rao, and other officials from different departments.
The Collector directed the officials to complete all arrangements well in advance. Among the key instructions were the establishment of public registration counters and medical camps at the venue. She also ordered that arrangements be made for drinking water and other essential amenities for the public attending the programme.
Ms. Nishanthi emphasised the need for seamless coordination among departments to ensure foolproof security and protocol. The officials were given specific responsibilities regarding the helipad, convoy route, venue management, galleries, and other public facilities. The administration is working to ensure that all logistics are in place for the Chief Minister's arrival.
The meeting was also attended by the Project Officer of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), which is a significant presence given the district's tribal population. The ASR district is home to a large number of tribal communities, and the ITDA plays an active role in development programmes in the region. The involvement of the agency in the planning process is part of the district administration's efforts to coordinate the visit with all relevant departments.
The ASR district, named after the legendary tribal freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, is one of the newer districts of Andhra Pradesh, carved out of Visakhapatnam district in 2022. It is a predominantly tribal region, with activities of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency playing a vital role in its administration. The district's hilly terrain often makes logistics challenging, which is why the administration is concentrating on meticulous planning for the Chief Minister's visit.
The Sanjeevani project is being introduced as a pilot project in the district. Typically, a pilot project is a small-scale trial run to assess the feasibility of a larger programme before its full-scale implementation. The project is expected to be launched to the public during the Chief Minister's visit. However, officials have not yet disclosed the specific details of the project or its intended beneficiaries.
