Mumbai-Gujarat Train Services Hit: 13 Cancelled as Rains Persist
At least 13 train services connecting Mumbai to Gujarat were cancelled on Friday as heavy rain continued to lash the city for the fourth consecutive day, causing waterlogging on railway tracks, officials said.
The Western Railway's Mumbai Division also announced the cancellation of several long-distance trains scheduled for Saturday, July 25, citing safety concerns.
According to Western Railway authorities, the water level at the bridge between Gholvad in Maharashtra's Palghar district and Umbergaon in Gujarat reached a dangerous level, forcing the suspension of rail traffic on that section.
The cancelled trains on Friday included the 12935 Bandra Terminus-Surat Express, 19101 Virar-Bharuch Express, 69141 Virar-Surat MEMU, 69174 Dahanu Road-Borivali MEMU, and 09001 Mumbai Central-Bhildi Special, among others. Long-distance trains such as the 12925 Bandra Terminus-Amritsar Express and the 19217 Bandra Terminus-Veraval Express were also cancelled due to waterlogging and track safety concerns.
Commuters have been advised to check with railway authorities for updates on train schedules and alternative arrangements.
