MBBS, BDS Application Portal to Reopen for Two Days Following Student Appeals
The Selection Committee of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) has announced that the online application portal for MBBS and BDS admissions for the academic year 2026-27 will be reopened. The portal will be accessible from 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, until 3 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026.
This decision follows representations received from students who were unable to complete their applications during the initial window, according to a press release from the committee. The reopening is intended to allow new applicants to register and existing applicants to finish incomplete submissions.
The committee has emphasised that this is a one-time measure, taken in the interest of student welfare, and no further extensions will be granted. Editing of already submitted applications will not be permitted, as this would delay the ongoing scrutiny process, the release stated.
Students who have submitted applications with minor errors need not panic, the committee assured. Clerical and typographical mistakes will be checked and rectified during the subsequent document verification and scrutiny phases.
The admission process has faced delays this year due to the cancellation of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) held on May 3, following allegations of a paper leak. The exam was subsequently conducted again on June 21, pushing the entire schedule back by over a month. The leak also triggered student protests across the country and led to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
