LPG Tanker Crash at Uttar Pradesh Toll Booth Kills Five, Triggers Massive Fire
Five people were killed and several others injured when a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker crashed into a toll booth in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, early on June 26. The accident occurred around 6:40 AM, according to local police.
CCTV footage shows two tankers approaching the toll plaza when one suddenly lost control, hit a divider, and collided with the booth. The impact caused a gas leak, leading to a major explosion and fire. Thick smoke was visible from nearly two kilometres away.
Emergency services responded quickly, with all fire brigade units in the district and civil police deployed to control the blaze. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Dharmendra Dubey, and a toll plaza employee named Alok died at the scene. Three other workers succumbed to injuries later at the hospital.
Authorities briefly allowed vehicles to pass through the toll plaza without charge to prevent traffic congestion. A technical team has been formed to investigate the cause of the crash.
Police officials confirmed that the injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals. The exact number of injured has not been officially released.
