Leopard Spotted Near Tirumala: Dy CM Orders Safety Measures for Pilgrims
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment and Forests K. Pawan Kalyan has directed officials to ensure the safety of pilgrims using the Tirumala footpath after a leopard was sighted near Dorasani Mandapam.
In a press release, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said that H.A.N.U.M.A.N (Healing and Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid and Nursing of Wildlife) teams should be deployed to prevent any harm to devotees from the wild cat.
He instructed the Forest Department, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) forest wing, and the TTD vigilance wing to coordinate effectively to protect pilgrims, and advised that devotees move in groups.
The Deputy Chief Minister also asked officials to take appropriate measures to avoid disturbing pilgrims. Officials briefed him on ongoing efforts, including coordination among the Forest Department, TTD Forest Wing, and TTD Vigilance Wing, to ensure pilgrim safety.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan emphasized the need to keep pilgrims constantly alert and to clear dense thickets in sensitive areas for better visibility. He stressed that security measures should prevent anxiety among pilgrims regarding the leopard's presence.
