Lalu Prasad to Undergo Medical Treatment at AIIMS Delhi After Blood Pressure Fluctuation

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad will be taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Saturday, July 18, 2026, for medical treatment, his eldest daughter Misa Bharti said.

Prasad was admitted to Patna's Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) on Friday evening after experiencing fluctuations in his blood pressure. Doctors conducted a detailed examination and discharged him after his condition stabilised, Bharti told reporters.

She said Prasad is currently stable and was advised to remain under observation at home before travelling to Delhi, where he regularly receives specialised treatment at AIIMS.

Bharti also noted that in Kautilya Nagar, the area where Prasad recently shifted, sanitation is a major issue. However, she refrained from making it a political matter, saying that raising it could be misinterpreted.

After nearly two decades, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad moved from their government bungalow at 10 Circular Road to their own private house in Kautilya Nagar. The bungalow has been allotted to Nand Kishore Ram, Bihar minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairy Resources.

Prasad has been dealing with multiple health issues. He underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery in Singapore in December 2022.
