Kerala Government Plans ₹50 Crore Upgrade for Cherooppa Health Centre

Health Minister K. Muraleedharan announced on Saturday that the Cherooppa sub-centre of the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kozhikode will be upgraded into a modern community health centre. A master plan worth ₹50 crore for the facility's comprehensive development will be prepared soon, he said after visiting the centre.

The minister's visit followed a recent submission by M.A. Razak, the Kunnamangalam MLA, in the Kerala Assembly. Mr. Muraleedharan stated that corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds would be utilised for the development, with works expected to be completed in three years. Once adequate buildings are ready, the government will proceed with further development, he added.

Mr. Razak noted that upgrading the health centre would benefit patients from at least 14 grama panchayats in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. It would also reduce the patient rush at the Kozhikode MCH, he said. Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan and medical college officials were present during the visit.
