Kerala Gets New Chief Secretary: Bishwanath Sinha Takes Charge
Senior bureaucrat Bishwanath Sinha assumed office as the Chief Secretary of Kerala on Tuesday, succeeding A. Jayathilak, who retired from service the same day. The 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service officer was previously serving as the Home Secretary of the state.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Darbar Hall in the Secretariat. The state government also organised a farewell for the outgoing Chief Secretary, attended by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty. Additional Chief Secretary Rajan N. Khobragade, who also retired, was honoured at the event.
Chief Minister Satheesan presented mementos to the retiring officers. Mr. Sinha, who has two years of service remaining, is now the top bureaucrat in Kerala, heading the state administration.
