Karnataka students shine in NEET-UG re-examination, eight secure top ranks
In the recently announced results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) re-examination, at least eight students from Karnataka have secured All India Ranks (AIR) within the top 138, scoring 690 marks or above. The re-examination was conducted following the cancellation of the original NEET-UG 2024 exam due to a reported paper leak in certain centres.
Among the top performers is Vaishnavi Das, a student of Sri Chaitanya PU College in Bengaluru's JP Nagar. She achieved an All India Rank of 20 with 695 marks, making her the state topper for Karnataka. Her father is a lawyer, and her mother works at a pharmaceutical company.
When contacted by this publication, several toppers expressed that the re-examination initially came as a shock and left them disappointed. However, they chose to view it as an opportunity to improve their performance. 'It was unexpected, but we prepared again, thinking it was another chance to do better,' said one of the top scorers on condition of anonymity.
The results reflect the resilience and dedication of students who had to undergo the stress of a second examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the re-exam for candidates affected by the irregularities.
