Karnataka mulls extending Ayushman Bharat cashless treatment to APL families

Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader announced on Monday that the Karnataka government is considering extending completely cashless treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme to families above the poverty line (APL). Currently, the scheme provides cashless healthcare only to below poverty line (BPL) families.

Speaking at a public felicitation event in Sullia, Mr. Khader stated that the government aims to make the scheme accessible to all sections of society. A final decision is expected soon after further deliberations, he added.

The minister also assured that the state government would support the development of Sullia in a non-partisan manner, focusing on infrastructure improvements such as roads and electricity. A detailed plan will be prepared in consultation with local representatives.

Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya presided over the event.
