Karnataka Digital Services to Face 24-Hour Shutdown for Upgrades

The Karnataka government's online services are expected to be disrupted for 24 hours starting from 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, due to planned maintenance and upgrades at the State Data Centre (SDC). The SDC hosts the websites and digital platforms of 69 state departments and corporations, many of which provide public-facing services.

Services likely to be affected include Aadhaar appointment booking, Bhoomi (land records), Mojini (survey), Mobile One, BangaloreOne, KarnatakaOne, traffic challan payments for Bangalore Traffic Police, Sakala (service guarantee), e-Janaspandana (grievance redressal), RTO services, and Kaveri (property registration), among others. The ongoing survey by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes is also hosted on the SDC and may be impacted. Additionally, government offices will remain closed on Friday due to Muharram, a public holiday.

Information Technology and Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge stated that the downtime is necessary for important technical maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and security enhancements. He noted that the upgrades will strengthen the digital administration system, increase capacity, and enable faster service delivery without technical glitches. The state has seen a significant rise in digital services in recent years, necessitating capacity addition.

The government has advised citizens to plan their access to online services accordingly, as all SDC-hosted platforms will be unavailable during the maintenance window. Officials expect services to resume by 9 p.m. on Friday, June 26, once the upgrades are completed.
