Jipmer Launches Month-Long Campaign to Enroll Beneficiaries Under Ayushman Bharat Schemes
The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) in Puducherry will launch a month-long campaign starting Thursday to promote the Central government's flagship healthcare initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission programmes.
The campaign, called the 'Freedom from Illness Campaign', aims to facilitate free registration and on-the-spot generation of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) cards, and Ayushman Vay Vandana cards for eligible beneficiaries.
During the campaign, multiple registration counters will function daily from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Jipmer campus. All registrations and card generations will be done free of cost. The AB PM-JAY scheme offers cashless health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per eligible family per year for hospitalisation. The Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme provides similar coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per eligible senior citizen aged 70 years and above per year, aimed at enhancing healthcare security for the elderly, according to a Jipmer release.
The ABHA number is a unique 14-digit digital health identity that allows individuals to securely store and access their medical records digitally, the release added.
