JEE Scores Now Open Doors to IIM Undergraduate Programmes: Here's How
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), long recognised for their postgraduate management programmes, are now expanding into undergraduate education. Several IIMs offer bachelor's degrees in fields such as management, data science, artificial intelligence, and digital business for students immediately after Class 12.
While admission to most undergraduate programmes is based on institute-specific entrance tests or multiple pathways, a growing number of IIMs also accept JEE Main or JEE Advanced scores as part of their selection process. This development allows students who have taken the engineering entrance exam to apply for management and technology-focused UG courses at these prestigious institutions.
One notable example is IIM Mumbai, which offers a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) in Digital Science and Business Management. Admissions to this programme are conducted exclusively through JEE Main Paper 1 scores. This aligns with the institute's focus on digital and business skills, giving students a unique combination of technical and managerial education right after school.
Other IIMs have similar programmes, though admission criteria may vary. For instance, IIM Rohtak offers a five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) that accepts scores from JEE Advanced, along with other exams. IIM Indore's IPM also considers JEE Advanced scores as one of the pathways. It is important for applicants to verify specific requirements from each institute's official website.
This trend reflects a broader shift in Indian higher education, where traditional boundaries between engineering and management streams are blurring. Students now have more options to pursue interdisciplinary education early in their academic careers. However, experts advise students to choose programmes based on their interests and career goals, rather than solely on the convenience of using existing exam scores.
