Jagan seeks CBI probe into alleged DSC-2025 teacher recruitment irregularities
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process in Andhra Pradesh. In a social media post on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy claimed that fresh evidence and facts were emerging from different parts of the State, pointing to serious malpractices.
The DSC-2025 recruitment is a drive to fill thousands of teacher posts in government schools across Andhra Pradesh. Allegations have surfaced regarding fake certificates, wrongful reservation claims, and other irregularities, prompting opposition parties to seek an independent probe.
Mr. Reddy said the TDP-led coalition government was evading questions and refusing a CBI inquiry. He accused the government of attempting to silence critics by restricting, removing, or geo-blocking posts and accounts of opposition parties, media platforms, social activists, and individuals on Meta-owned platforms like Facebook and Instagram. He asserted that such actions amounted to censorship and violated the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression guaranteed under the Constitution.
“No government has the right to muzzle the opposition, media, activists, or citizens merely because their questions are politically inconvenient,” Mr. Reddy said. He challenged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to prove his claims about the recruitment process. He also demanded the immediate restoration of all restricted content and that critics' questions be answered.
Turning to the education department, Mr. Reddy called on Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh to take responsibility for the alleged irregularities and resign. He argued that blocking social media accounts could not bury the facts.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP organised a ‘Guru Parirakshna Deeksha’ at its central office in Vijayawada to express solidarity with teachers and protest against the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. Party leaders, including YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader Y.V. Subba Reddy, attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Subba Reddy said the recruitment was riddled with irregularities. He cited instances of candidates allegedly securing jobs using fake certificates and making wrongful reservation claims as among the most glaring problems. MLCs Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, Kalpalatha Reddy, Ishaq Basha, Ramachandra Reddy, and Palavalasa Vikranth, as well as former ministers K. Kannababu, Perni Venkataramaiah, and Taneti Vanitha, were also present.
The state government has not yet responded to the allegations. The ruling party has previously maintained that the recruitment process is transparent and has dismissed opposition claims as politically motivated. This report will be updated if a statement is issued.
