IRISET Partners with Colleges for B.Tech Course on Indigenous Train Protection System Kavach
The Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET), Secunderabad, has signed memoranda of understanding with two engineering colleges to introduce a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) course focused on the indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, known as Kavach.
The agreements were signed with St. Peter’s Engineering College and KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology, both based in Hyderabad. The course aims to provide engineering students with industry-relevant knowledge and skills in modern railway signalling technologies and the ATP system.
According to IRISET, the programme is designed to upskill and reskill students in emerging railway technologies, thereby enhancing their employability in the transportation and rail infrastructure sectors. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Railways’ broader mission of capacity and capability building in the field of railway signalling and safety systems.
IRISET Additional Director General Lokesh Vishnoi and Senior Professor T. Ramesh Babu signed the MoUs with K. Prasanna Kumar, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at St. Peter’s Engineering College, and S. Sai Satyanarayana Reddy, Principal of KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology, as per an official press release.
