Iran Claims Strikes on US Bases in Kuwait and Jordan; US Denies Tanker Reports
Iran’s army said on Saturday that it struck U.S. military targets in Kuwait and Jordan, according to a statement carried by Iranian state broadcaster. The purported strikes targeted an ammunition depot at the Al-Adiri camp, headquarters buildings and ammunition depots at the Ali Al-Salem base, and several communication bridges in Kuwait. No specific targets in Jordan were detailed in the statement.
In a separate development, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed that two oil tankers, allegedly directed by 'deceptive American intelligence agencies,' exploded after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military quickly denied this assertion. The Guards also said on state television that they 'stopped' four ships attempting to transit the strategic waterway.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that it had completed its seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran as of Friday, targeting military logistics infrastructure, surveillance sites, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities. The strikes were confirmed in a post on social media platform X.
These events mark an escalation in the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States in the West Asia region. Both sides have accused each other of aggression, and international observers have called for restraint to prevent a broader war. The claims and counter-claims remain unverified by independent sources.
