India's GST Collections Rise 13.9% in June, Import Tax Surges 35%
The government collected Rs 1.95 lakh crore as Goods and Services Tax (GST) on a gross basis in June, marking a 13.9% increase compared to the same month last year. The rise was driven largely by a 34.6% jump in tax revenue from imports, nearly double the 19.1% increase recorded in May.
According to data released by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, June's collections were only marginally higher than the Rs 1.94 lakh crore collected in May. GST collections had reached a record high of Rs 2.43 lakh crore in April 2025.
Domestic revenue accounted for 69.2% of gross GST collections, amounting to Rs 1.35 lakh crore, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. The remaining 30.8%, or Rs 60,038 crore, came from imports.
