Indian Passport Fees in UAE to Rise from July 1: Fresh and Tatkaal Services Affected
The Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates has announced a revision in passport fees, effective July 1, 2024. The hike will apply to both fresh passport applications and the Tatkaal expedited service, according to official sources cited by The Indian Express.
Passport services are critical for the large Indian diaspora in the UAE, which numbers over 3.5 million. Many workers rely on passports for travel, employment, and residency. The Tatkaal scheme, designed for urgent cases, allows faster issuance at a premium. The exact new fees have not been disclosed, but applicants are advised to check the embassy's website for the updated schedule.
The current fee for a standard 36-page passport is approximately AED 50, with Tatkaal services costing an additional AED 150. The increase is expected to be in the range of 10–20%, reflecting higher operational costs and currency fluctuations. Similar adjustments have been made by Indian missions in other countries.
Applications submitted before July 1 will be processed under the old fee structure. The embassy recommends that applicants plan accordingly and ensure correct payment after the effective date.
