Indian Navy Helicopter Evacuates Injured Crew Member from Tanker Near Mumbai

The Indian Navy conducted a medical evacuation of an injured seafarer from a crude oil tanker off the coast of Mumbai on July 4. A Sea King helicopter from INS Shikra was deployed for the operation.

The evacuation took place from the SCI crude oil tanker MT Desh Shakti. The mission was carried out despite a 'red alert' due to heavy rainfall, poor visibility, and rough sea conditions. The injured crew member was lifted using a rescue basket.

Once onboard the helicopter, the patient was stabilized by the medical team and later transported ashore for further medical care. The Navy confirmed that the evacuation was successful.

This operation highlights the Indian Navy's role in providing emergency assistance at sea.
