India, US discuss counter-terrorism, narcotics control, border security in Delhi meeting
Union Home Minister Amit Shah met United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi on Thursday. The discussions focused on strengthening security cooperation between India and the US, as per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The meeting took place a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France. The MHA stated that the discussions covered counter-terrorism, narcotics control, border security, and law-enforcement cooperation.
Mr Shah said in a statement on Friday, “Met US Ambassador to India, Mr Sergio Gor in New Delhi today. Had a detailed discussion on further strengthening cooperation between India and the US in the area of security, particularly in counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics.”
Both sides reiterated their commitment to combating terrorism and drug trafficking, which they described as shared challenges. The meeting was part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two countries on security issues.
