India-China diplomacy: Foreign Secretary Misri meets top Chinese Communist Party officials in Beijing
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Monday (July 27, 2026) met Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in Beijing. The two officials discussed ways to deepen implementation of the guidance of the leaders for bilateral relations, according to the Indian Embassy.
Mr. Misri, who previously served as India's Ambassador to China, began his official visit to China on Monday. The meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilise ties between the two Asian giants.
During the meeting, Mr. Misri and Vice Minister Sun discussed addressing issues of priority to both sides and promoting political, people-to-people, academic and think-tank exchanges, the Indian Embassy said in a post on X.
Mr. Misri also met Hong Liang, Deputy Secretary General of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). They discussed ways to enhance bilateral exchanges at the political and people-to-people levels, the Embassy added.
This visit follows the meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings in Manila on July 21. The two foreign ministers had discussed issues related to bilateral relations and regional stability.
